Church Donates Hygiene Facilities, School Supplies to Camarin Elementary School

To supplement Camarin Elementary School’s COVID-19 safety measures, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints donated equipment to enhance the school’s hygiene facilities. A handover ceremony was held on September 10, 2021, attended by representatives of the Church, and other school officials.

Through its humanitarian arm, Latter-day Saint Charities (LDSC), the Church also donated a duplicator machine, ink, and 5,000 reams of bond papers. These school supplies and equipment are part of LDSC’s ongoing operations to support children’s education by providing needed items for printing and photocopying learning modules.

Mr. Angelo Eduardo, principal of Camarin Elementary School, expressed gratitude on behalf of the school. He said, “These donations will be a great help to our school especially to our learners! As educators, your donation fuels our motivation to give what is best for our students. We cannot thank you enough.”

Elder Orencia, an LDSC senior service missionary, emphasized that the donations were made possible through the charitable donations of Church members:

Nagpapasalamat po kami sa opportunity na ito namakabigay ng konting tulong para sa Camarin Elementary School. (We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute and help Camarin Elementary School.) The vision of Latter-day Saint Charities is to follow the Savior Jesus Christ and His example to show charity to all mankind. As His disciples, we strive to do His will.

Gracing the event were members of the Camarin Philippines Stake (diocese) Presidency, Presidents Dick James De Guzman and Eddie Feliciano; Paul Ferrer, Bishop (local leader) of the Camarin 2nd Ward (congregation); Elder and Sister Leininger, LDSC Welfare Missionaries; Elder and Sister Orencia, LDSC Senior Service Missionaries; Precila Duyor, Camarin Elementary School Brigada Pagbasa Coordinator; and, Princess Sawan, Camarin Elementary School Partnership Coordinator.

Latter-day Saint Charities

Sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Latter-day Saint Charities (LDSC) is an application of the admonition of Jesus Christ to help others in need. Jesus Christ taught His followers to give meat to the hungry and drink to those who thirst. His gospel includes taking in the stranger, loving neighbors as self, and visiting those who are sick or imprisoned. He taught that we love and care for each other, visit the fatherless and widows in their afflictions, and lift those whose hands hang down and whose knees are feeble.

Unique in its support structure, LDSC has access to the resources of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which include food production and processing, donated used clothing, employment and social services, and the ability to purchase goods locally in many parts of the world. We sponsor relief and development projects in 179 countries.
